I analysed 20 years of my chats
The author analyzed 1.2 million messages from 20 years of digital communications across multiple platforms (Telegram, VK, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) to create a personal CRM and better understand their relationships and emotional patterns. Using GDPR data access requests, they parsed the data into a structured format, discovering insights about friendship dynamics, emotional bandwidth, and communication cycles, while grappling with the challenge that much of the raw data consists of noise rather than substantive content. The project revealed limitations of both biometric life tracking and memory-based journaling in capturing the reality of how relationships actually function.
