Anthropic researchers are developing agent memory systems for Claude that mirror how human brains process and consolidate memories. The approach uses "dreaming"—offline processing during idle time between interactions—to help Claude organize experiences, correct mistakes, and create memory notes that persist between sessions, similar to how human brains replay and integrate experiences during sleep. This memory system excludes weight changes and in-context learning, focusing instead on knowledge Claude can actively retrieve and build upon across multiple interactions.
