Researchers at Humans& have developed a GPU-accelerated weight synchronization system for large-scale reinforcement learning that significantly speeds up the transfer of model weight updates from trainers to samplers. The system uses a Blackwell-native compression/decompression pipeline that achieves sampler pause times below 0.23 seconds and end-to-end sync times below 4 seconds, outperforming traditional intra-cluster networking approaches. The innovation combines massively parallel GPU compression, double compression algorithms, and hardware-native decompression to eliminate the bottleneck of syncing terabytes of model weights across distributed systems.
