AI agent fixed the bug, but what else did it change?

Cybersecurity firm Trail of Bits has released two AI plugins—patching-bugs and regression-hunt—developed through their collaboration with OpenAI to automate bug fixing and detect unintended side effects in open-source software patches. In testing their previous patches, the team identified 21 regressions among over 130 merged pull requests and designed these plugins to standardize the patching process, reduce false positives by 25%, and ensure patches are reviewed with consistent criteria before deployment.
