Smartphone makers don't bother to comply with EU repairability requirements

One year after the EU's repairability rules for smartphones took effect in June 2025, over 80 percent of devices still lack required repair information, according to Right to Repair Europe. Only 18 percent of smartphone models listed in the EU's product registry actually provide websites with spare parts prices or repair instructions, while some non-compliant manufacturers still award themselves top marks for repairability. The campaign group argues the EU's approach is ineffective, as many devices are sold without proper compliance, including misleading price brackets and unclear links to repair resources.
