PgDog is funded and coming to a database near you
PgDog, a newly funded startup, has developed a proxy solution that makes PostgreSQL horizontally scalable without requiring alternative databases like MongoDB or DynamoDB. The open-source tool, already handling 2M+ queries per second in production across multiple deployments, allows users to deploy it anywhere by simply changing their database URL. With $5.5M in funding and a team of infrastructure engineers who previously scaled Postgres at scale at Instacart, PgDog aims to eliminate the need for database alternatives by making Postgres work reliably at enterprise scale.
