X OS is a new microkernel operating system designed specifically for the AI era, built from scratch to support agentic workflows where AI agents and humans collaborate. The system prioritizes observability, scriptability, and programmability as core architectural principles, with all services inspectable and replaceable while running, rather than features added on top. A functional prototype already exists with a working desktop environment, microkernel, hardware-accelerated display server, and networking stack, and the project is seeking contributors.
