The author paid volunteers €25 each to test their README documentation for ActivityBot and provide real-time feedback by sharing their screens and speaking aloud about their experience. Through these sessions, they discovered numerous issues including broken links, unclear instructions, confusing terminology, poor section ordering, and jokes that confused rather than helped users. After each session, they updated the README based on feedback and retested with the next person, ultimately spending around €150 to identify and fix problems that would have been invisible due to their own biases.
