CBS Radio signs off after nearly 100 years of broadcasting

CBS News Radio, a pioneering news service that launched in 1927 and delivered broadcasts to approximately 700 stations nationwide, ceased operations Friday after nearly a century on air. The network, which employed legendary journalists like Edward R. Murrow and Dan Rather, covered major historical events from World War II to 9/11 and featured the longest-running newscast in the country, "World News Roundup." CBS News cited "challenging economic realities" when announcing the shutdown in March.
