Canada suspends trade negotiations with USA and match tariffs dollar for dollar
Canada has suspended trade negotiations with the United States and will match a planned 50% U.S. tariff on approximately $28 billion of Canadian goods dollar-for-dollar, according to Prime Minister Carney. The decision came after last-minute changes to U.S. proposed terms that the Canadian government deemed "unfair, uneconomic," and unreliable, despite progress made in recent weeks.
