France asked ISPs to prepare temporary DNS blocks for major social platforms

Two days before a planned October 24 demonstration, French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu asked major ISPs (Orange, SFR, Free, and Bouygues Telecom) to prepare temporary DNS blocks for TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and X. The ISPs expressed doubts about the measure, which the French government had previously attempted in New Caledonia in 2024 before being overruled by the State Council.
