You can power on a Mac remotely

Apple has finally enabled remote power-on for certain Mac models (Mac mini 2024+, Mac Studio 2025+, and iMac 2024+) through a new "Always" boot setting in macOS 26.5, allowing Macs to automatically start when power is restored—a feature PCs have had since 1995. The capability addresses practical needs for remote lab environments and portable setups, though FileVault-encrypted Macs require SSH login to unlock before remote access, and a bug prevents automatic restart if the Mac is shut down from the login window without logging in first.
