Web Browsers on PDAS

PDA web browsers emerged in the 1990s as personal digital assistants gained internet connectivity, initially using limited protocols like WAP and WML before evolving to support full HTML-based web standards. Different PDA operating systems—such as Psion's EPOC and Apple's Newton—developed varying browser ecosystems, with EPOC eventually standardizing on Opera after Microsoft's acquisition of competitor STNC, while Newton users had options like PocketWeb and NetHopper. PDA browsers remained popular only briefly as smartphones eventually displaced PDAs as the dominant mobile technology.
