Waymo has paused robotaxi service in four cities—Atlanta, San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston—after its vehicles repeatedly struggled with heavy rain and flooded roads, including one incident where a vehicle got stuck in a flooded Atlanta intersection. The company issued a software recall last week with precautions to avoid flooded areas, but admitted it hasn't developed a final remedy for the problem. This service expansion comes amid ongoing investigations by the NHTSA and NTSB into other Waymo incidents, including illegal school bus passes and a collision with a child.
