A developer created "Town Square," a small interactive feature that displays other current visitors on a website as stick figures, allowing users to see what pages people are reading and send messages to create spontaneous conversations. The tool was open-sourced with a public server so any website can integrate it without self-hosting, aiming to restore the web's sense of human connection rather than building another social network. Future plans include enhanced user interactions and connecting multiple Town Squares into a network similar to the classic Webring.
