The Wonders of AI: We Are Retiring Our Bug Bounty Program
Turso has discontinued its bug bounty program that offered $1,000 for discovering data corruption bugs after being overwhelmed by low-quality submissions from AI-generated content, which prevented maintainers from reviewing legitimate contributions. The company started the program to validate their testing methodology for their SQLite rewrite and successfully paid five skilled researchers before the influx of spam made the program unmanageable. Turso is sharing this decision publicly to highlight the challenges open-source projects face in maintaining community contributions during the era of AI-generated content.
