A shipwreck exposed on a Vietnamese beach in 2013 has yielded ceramics and wooden hull remains dating to the late Tang Dynasty (second half of the 9th century), roughly 50-70 years after the famous Belitung wreck. The cargo of Changsha painted wares, Yue greenwares, and other Chinese ceramics closely resembles the Belitung cargo, but the Binh Chau vessel was constructed using Southeast Asian shipbuilding technology rather than West Asian methods. Arabic inscriptions found on Guangdong jars provide material evidence of Arab merchant involvement in Tang maritime trade networks.
