The people who actually want AI to replace humanity

A growing subculture of "AI successionists" believes artificial intelligence should eventually replace humanity as the next step in evolution, arguing that AI could become our moral superiors and that we should hand over the world to machines even if it means human extinction. This view, once fringe, has gained significant influence among technologists and policy-makers through movements like effective accelerationism (e/acc), with support from major AI labs and venture capitalists. The article argues for developing a new humanism that can guide decisions about which technological changes to embrace while preserving human value and flourishing.
