Senior developers save approximately 15% of their time with AI assistance, while junior developers see around 25% improvement, since they spend more time on coding—the task AI helps with most. The productivity gap persists because AI hasn't significantly improved non-coding work like architectural decisions, code reviews, and understanding requirements, which consume the majority of senior engineers' time.
