Tell HN: Gemini trains on chat history, even for subscribers (personal accounts)
Google's Gemini AI service uses saved chat history from paid subscribers to train its models, with no opt-out option except by disabling chat history entirely or using temporary sessions. Human reviewers may access these chat transcripts, which Google claims to disconnect from user accounts but warns users not to enter confidential information, and chats reviewed by humans are retained for up to three years even after deletion. The only way to prevent training on chat history is to turn off "Keep Activity," which causes chat sessions to be deleted after 72 hours.
