Surely you have ultra-wideband radios on your bins too?

A homeowner created "BinRange," an ultra-wideband radio system that tracks whether their six trash bins have been put out for collection by placing battery-powered UWB tags on each bin and using a fixed radio anchor connected to Home Assistant. The system combines bin location data with collection schedules to automatically notify them, solving the limitations of previous Bluetooth-based approaches that suffered from poor battery life and unreliable proximity readings.
