Software Engineering in the Agentic Era

Simon Willison has launched a new project called "Agentic Engineering Patterns" to document best practices for professional software engineers using AI coding agents like Claude Code and OpenAI Codex. The project addresses how the dramatic reduction in code generation costs impacts software development workflows, and Willison is publishing it as a series of chapters covering topics like test-driven development with agents, with plans to add 1-2 chapters weekly.
