Shutterstock to pay $35M over hard-to-cancel subscriptions

Shutterstock has agreed to pay $35 million to settle FTC allegations that it engaged in illegal subscription practices, including charging consumers without consent, failing to disclose auto-renewal and cancellation fees, and deliberately making cancellations difficult. The settlement addresses complaints that the online licensing platform deceived customers about the terms and costs associated with their subscriptions.
