Scanwheel is a DIY mechanical television project featuring a rotating drum with five display windows that can show separate images using individual LEDs, achieving surprisingly good image quality for its 20 scan lines through the Raspberry Pi Pico's high-resolution LED driving capabilities. The project requires readily available components including a stepper motor, A4988 driver, Pico microcontroller, LEDs with carefully calculated resistors for brightness matching, and 3D-printed structural parts.
