Sakana AI has formally established a Recursive Self-Improvement (RSI) Lab dedicated to developing AI systems that autonomously improve themselves, positioning the company at the forefront of next-generation AI development. Rather than relying on brute-force scaling, Sakana AI is building adaptive, self-improving AI architectures inspired by biological evolution and Japanese manufacturing principles of achieving more with less. The lab builds on recent breakthrough research including LLM-Squared, the Darwin Gödel Machine, and other projects that demonstrate practical progress toward autonomous, self-improving intelligence engines.
