OldInsuranceMaps.net has become an official Charter Project of OpenStreetMap US, hosting over 1,200 georeferenced Sanborn Insurance Maps from the Library of Congress and other sources. Sanborn Maps, created between 1867 and the 1960s, are among the most accurate historical geographic references for the United States and are now more accessible to hobbyists, researchers, and professionals through the platform's intuitive georeferencing interface. The Charter Project designation aims to increase collaboration between OIM and other historical mapping initiatives like OpenHistoricalMap and Yesterdays.
