A global survey of 18 countries shows that 61% of people use AI for mental health support, driven by barriers to professional care such as cost, time constraints, and stigma. While 55% report satisfaction with AI advice, 32% have felt uncomfortable with recommendations and 28% say AI suggestions led to harmful behavior. Mental health continues to deteriorate worldwide, with 46% of respondents reporting they are struggling or languishing, though most people (62%) still trust professional mental health providers over AI.
