Matrox: Graphics for Professionals

Lorne Trottier and Branko Matić founded Matrox in 1976 to create graphics interfaces between CPUs and video output, launching their first product, the Video RAM (MTX-1632), that same year. The company achieved immediate profitability after securing $20,000 in orders through a free product placement in Electronics magazine, followed by more advanced display adapters like the MTX-2562 that offered superior performance and value compared to competitors at the time.
