The author received one of Donald Knuth's famous reward checks for finding a typographical error in "Computer Modern Typefaces"—specifically in the very first word on page 1. The error was particularly notable given that thousands of readers had previously reviewed the book without catching it. After later submitting an incorrect error report, Knuth sent an additional check for $0.32 as a partial reward for a helpful suggestion within the submission, bringing the author's total rewards to $2.88.
