IBM MCGA Gate Array Reverse Engineering
IBM's MCGA (Multi-Color Graphics Array) video chipset consists of two gate arrays—a memory controller and a video formatter—both of which have been reverse engineered from chips fabricated by Seiko. Through reverse engineering efforts, previously undocumented features were discovered, including genlock capability to external sync signals and manufacturing test modes accessible through reserved registers that were not detailed in IBM's technical documentation.
