Galaxy Game – Interim Computer Museum

Galaxy Game, installed at Stanford in 1971, was the first coin-operated version of Spacewar! running on a PDP-11 computer with high-end display technology that attracted hour-long lines of players. The Interim Computer Museum is now undertaking a restoration of the original machine, which last operated in 1979, with work currently focused on rebuilding the power supply and refurbishing the HP 1300A electrostatic displays that need full refurbishment after 50 years.
