Europe EV Sales BEVs Jump 50% & Reach 26% Market Share
European electric vehicle sales surged 50% year-over-year in June 2026, with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) reaching a record 366,000 registrations and capturing 26% market share, driven by cheaper models, high gas prices, and Chinese EV manufacturers entering the market. BEVs now account for 71% of all plug-in vehicle sales, significantly outpacing plug-in hybrids, while overall electrified vehicles (including hybrids) represent 72% of European car sales, with traditional petrol and diesel vehicles declining sharply. The growth trajectory already exceeds 2025's full-year results, signaling strong momentum toward Europe's goal of near-complete EV adoption by the mid-2030s.
