DoorDash spent approximately $1.4 million to oppose Zohran Mamdani's mayoral campaign in 2025, including a $1 million donation to an anti-Mamdani super PAC, but Mamdani won and subsequently oversaw a historic $131.5 million settlement requiring DoorDash to compensate 264,000 delivery workers for wage theft. The company's failed election spending now appears to have been an unsuccessful attempt to block a candidate who had promised worker protections and regulatory oversight of delivery apps. DoorDash's settlement amount is roughly 100 times what it spent on the election campaign against Mamdani.
