CoMaps: The Offline App That Guided Rescuers Without a Signal in Venezuela

CoMaps, an offline mapping app built on OpenStreetMap data, proved invaluable during Venezuela's earthquake response by enabling rescuers to navigate areas without cell coverage. Developed by volunteers and operating entirely offline after initial download, the app provided detailed, community-sourced maps that outperformed limited commercial navigation tools available to rescue teams.
