CJEU: Social networks are the 'publishers' of algorithmically-altered feeds

The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) ruled that social networks functioning as algorithmic feed curators are considered "publishers" and can be held liable for algorithmically-altered content shown to users. The decision also affirmed that EU member states can require age verification for pornographic content and restrict the rebroadcasting of traffic information. This ruling establishes that platforms controlling what content users see through algorithms bear responsibility for that content.
