Canada suspended trade negotiations with the US on Friday and announced it will impose reciprocal tariffs "dollar for dollar" on American goods after talks collapsed over last-minute changes to US terms that Prime Minister Mark Carney deemed unfair and uneconomic. The breakdown came just before a deadline, following weeks of intense negotiations since Trump threatened a 50% tariff on roughly $20 billion of Canadian imports in August.
