BYD is expanding its megawatt "Flash Charging" network to Canada, marking the first confirmed North American deployment of technology that can add 250 miles of range in 5 minutes. The company is hiring in Toronto to build and operate charging infrastructure across Canada, with its second-generation system capable of functioning at -20°C, making it particularly suited for Canadian winters and addressing a major barrier to EV adoption. This deployment comes after Canada reduced tariffs on Chinese EVs to 6.1% and represents a significant advantage over current North American charging speeds, which typically max out at 350-500 kW.
