Arch Linux Now Believes Malware Incident Under Control: More Than 1,500 Packages

Arch Linux discovered a major malware incident affecting its AUR (user-contributed repository) that grew from initial reports of over 400 compromised packages to more than 1,500 affected packages by day's end. The Arch Linux development team removed all known malicious commits, though officials acknowledged the 1,579-package list may not represent all compromised software. This represents a significant security breach in one of Linux's largest community-maintained package repositories.
