Chrome uses a clever JPEG decoding optimization for tiny images that skips decompressing high-frequency details, resulting in slightly different rendering compared to Firefox. When scaling down large JPEGs to very small sizes, Chrome recognizes that high-frequency information (fine details) will be lost anyway and avoids processing it, which saves memory and processing power but can make images appear slightly different—thicker or thinner—than in other browsers.
