This migration leverages the AT Protocol's federated model to reduce platform dependency and increase digital autonomy, similar to how email operates across multiple providers. While Waag acknowledges Bluesky's open-source protocol, it remains critical of the platform's centralized control through venture capital funding and default infrastructure, and continues to prioritize the fully decentralized Fediverse (Mastodon) as its primary social network.
