UUIDv7, despite common claims about its benefits, does not strictly guarantee monotonically increasing IDs, accurate embedded timestamps, or unguessable values—RFC-compliant implementations can violate these properties significantly. The timestamp embedded in a UUIDv7 ID may not accurately reflect when the object was created, as implementations are permitted to alter or increment the timestamp field ahead of actual system time, particularly when handling high ID generation rates. The only reliable property UUIDv7 provides is uniqueness and collision resistance.
