Uproar in France over award-winning author accused of using AI

French literary circles are in turmoil after award-winning Canadian-Haitian author Thélyson Orélien was accused of using AI to write his debut novel "C'était ça ou mourir," which recently won the Prix du Roman Fnac and is a finalist for major French language prizes. A group called Balance ton Claude claimed to have tested the manuscript and found it was "100 percent AI"-written, though Orélien and his publisher Grasset have firmly denied the allegations, with the author asserting his work draws authentically from his Haitian-Caribbean heritage. The accusations have sparked significant debate in the French publishing world about authenticity and the use of AI in literature.
