Unsloth has released GLM-5.2, Z.ai's new 744-billion-parameter open model, which can now run locally through dynamic quantization techniques. The model achieves state-of-the-art performance comparable to Claude Opus and GPT-5.5, with quantized versions ranging from 1-bit (223GB memory requirement, 76% accuracy) to 8-bit (810GB, near full accuracy), allowing flexible deployment across different hardware configurations. The quantization maintains functionality through dynamic precision allocation, where lower-accuracy layers are compressed while important ones remain higher precision, preventing degradation in actual model outputs.
