UK households free to install plug-in balcony solar panels from end of August

From 27 August, UK households will be able to purchase and install plug-in balcony solar panels without professional help, following a government law change that allows major retailers like Currys, B&Q, and Asda to sell them for the first time. These affordable DIY systems, priced from at least £400, can generate electricity from balconies or terraces and could reduce energy bills by up to £110 annually, making solar power accessible to renters and flat dwellers who lack rooftop access.
