The UK Home Office has launched PoliceAI, a £75m national centre to scale up artificial intelligence use across police forces in England and Wales over the next three years. The centre will prioritize AI applications that deliver immediate impact, including trialing tools to help officers process digital evidence, with successful practices being rolled out to all forces by 2027. The Home Office estimates AI could free up the equivalent of 3,000 police officers annually and will include measures to identify stolen goods and track illegal resales online.
