Ubuntu 26.10 completes transition to Rust-based coreutils

Ubuntu 26.10 has completed its migration to Rust-based core utilities, including the commands cp, mv, and rm that were previously held back due to security vulnerabilities in earlier versions. The transition provides improved memory safety and security benefits, as Rust catches memory bugs at compile time, while maintaining full compatibility with the original GNU versions. Canonical is funding this "oxidization" effort and has committed €40,000 annually to support Rust software development through the Trifecta Tech Foundation.
