China's LineShine supercomputer has claimed the number one spot on the TOP500 list at ISC'26 in Hamburg, marking the first Chinese submission to the list in 9 years. The CPU-only system achieves 2.198 Exaflops of sustained FP64 performance using over 13 million cores and ranks first in both the standard benchmark and the HPCG benchmark. Other notable changes include Italy's HPC7 system entering at number 6, while Japan's Fugaku drops to number 9 despite remaining highly efficient for scientific computing.
