Thomson Reuters launched Thomson, a proprietary large language model trained on the company's decades of specialized content for a fraction of the typical frontier model cost ($40 million versus billions). The model, built to "Fiduciary-Grade" standards and fully controlled by Thomson Reuters, performs comparably to leading frontier models while avoiding heavy inference costs. Thomson is being deployed in CoCounsel Legal with plans for additional sovereign AI capabilities.
