There's a new
Google's March 2024 algorithm update created a "Google Jail" effect for new domain wikis, where only their main page appears in search results while all other pages remain invisible—a devastating problem since 85% of wiki traffic comes from Google. About 90% of new wikis launched since the update have been affected, regardless of content quality or source, and the issue can persist for months or even a year before resolving. To work around this problem, independent wiki hosts like Weird Gloop are now launching new wikis as subdomains of established domains rather than on fresh root domains.
