The Web Is More Than Enough, by Paul Ford

Paul Ford argues that modern web browsers have become exceptionally powerful platforms for application development, with the cost and complexity of building web apps dropping dramatically. He illustrates this point by describing how he built tinylittleoffice.com—a functional office suite storing data in URLs—with minimal effort and nearly zero hosting costs, attracting hundreds of thousands of users despite dismissal from some critics. Ford emphasizes that modern browser APIs (Web Crypto, WebAssembly, WebGL, Web Audio) combined with JavaScript and HTML make the web an unparalleled distribution platform for building sophisticated applications that are inherently multilingual and accessible.
